Aeronautica RPG Rules add-on
To add some RPG flair to the campaign we’ve searched high and low for just the right system to use. Being an old school nerd, I (Doug) tried to convince the group to use GDW’s Traveller, as that will always have a soft spot in my heart from the 1980s!
Once the group rebuffed that idea, we batted around both Dark Heresy and the newer Imperium Maledictum, but Connor and I didn’t feel that either of those systems would build on the pilot-centric theme of our campaign. Never mind the fact that I’m about to go drop a lot of hard earned cash on pre-ordering the handbooks for Imperium Maledictum, anyway!
Fortunately for us, in the Aeronautica Imperialis 2019 group on Facebook, Sam Visser posted his take on a series of RPG rules to build out pilots and give them more flavor than the Campaign Ace rules in the Compendium. Now, not being the kind of gamers to just play a rules-set at face value, of course we’ve made tweaks to what Sam wrote, but we’re trying to play with the overall same intent that he drafted. Here’s a link to the rules if you want to try them in your AI games - they’re really quite fun as an additional level of chrome!
